Born Michael Grantland, AKA "Beau", is originally from Irving, Texas. In 1996, Beau moved to New York after graduating high school to pursue the study of Fine Arts and Photography at The Pratt Institute. However, when he combined his joy for film and storytelling with moving photos, he found his calling in filmmaking. He completed his undergraduate education at The School of Visual Arts, graduating in 2004 with a BFA in Cinematography.

While attending school, Beau was the long time Photographer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art website. Currently, he is working in Film and Television as a Camera Assistant gaining hands on experience about production as he works on developing his next film.
